RoadCast® Forecast

RoadCast® is an optional service.

RoadCast® forecasts are available only in the Pavement Forecast Transportation, Airport Operations and Alberta editions.

 

Note:

RoadCas®t forecast points do not require an RWIS sensor. Therefore, you only see forecast data; there is no observation station to provide current conditions or history.

 

Accessing a RoadCast® forecast
 

Your RoadCast® forecast is included within the first 24 hours of the Local Forecast.

  1. Select the Local Forecast Menu option.

  2. Click the Hourly submenu option.

  3. Select a RoadCast® forecast location from the Choose A Forecast drop down menu at the top of the page. All of your RoadCast® locations are listed in the menu under the heading of RoadCast® Sites.

    Note:

    The RoadCast® forecast includes:

    24Hr Snow Accumulation
    Blowing Snow Potential
    Bridge/Road/Runway Temperature
    Bridge/Road/Runway Frost
    Treatment Recommendations

     

  4. If road conditions warrant action within the next 24 hour period, an orange snowplow will appear in the Treatment Recommendation row. Click the icon to view the recommendations.

  5. If you have set up multiple treatment plans, select another Treatment Plan from the drop down menu to view those recommendations.

RoadCast® forecasts extend 24 hours into the future. Any time the weather scenario changes the snowplow will turn red to notify you of the changing treatment recommendations.

Note: Blowing Snow Potential refers to observed and forecast surface snow which may cause pavement hazards. Snow which is currently falling is not taken into consideration in the Blowing Snow Potential forecast.

Select the Graphs submenu to view the data in a graph format.

Forecast

RoadCast® forecasts are also provided within the local forecast of the Dashboard, select your RoadCast® site from the drop down menu.

You must first create locations at the RoadCast® points:

  1. Select the Settings Menu.

  2. In the Locations screen click New.

  3. In the RoadCast® tab select your location. Save.
